TOURNAMENT
Overview
iGames is proud to host, along with our online tournament partner CEVO, the StarCraft II – Killer Launch Detected Tournament, sponsored by Bigfoot Networks and Alienware.
Gamers will compete against players located at other centers across the United States and Canada. The top 4 players will advance to the Championships on Saturday, October 9th to play alongside online teams for a chance to win a share of $1,629.99 worth of cash and prizes.
Format
StarCraft II (PC), 1 vs. 1, Faster
Schedule
Gamer Registration: August 8 – September 5
Each Wednesday evening during the LAN Preliminary Phase, players must show up by 7:00 p.m. Central Time. They will be assigned three matches to play that night, between 7:30 p.m. and 9:30 p.m. Central Time.
Match 1 – 3: Wednesday, September 8
Match 3 – 6: Wednesday, September 15
Match 7 – 9: Wednesday, September 22
Match 10 – 12: Wednesday, September 29
The top 4 players from the LAN Preliminary will advance to the Playoffs to compete in a subsequent 16 slot double-elimination bracket (alongside the top 12 teams from the online division). These matches will be played entirely on Saturday, October 9th starting at 1 p.m. Central Time.
Matchmaking
Matchmaking and score reporting will be handled directly through the Alienware Arena website and by iGames and CEVO staff. LAN center staff are only responsible for verifying that players have showed up and the systems are adequately setup for gamers to use.
To facilitate this process, LAN centers must install a simple matchmaking and chat client on each system that gamers will login to using their Alienware Arena username and password.
Prizes
The top 16 overall placing teams from the Playoffs (including 4 from the LAN Preliminary) will split $1,629.99 worth of cash and prizes.
1st: $500.00 + Killer 2100 Gaming Network Card (ARV: $129.99 USD)
2nd: $250.00
3rd: $150.00
4th: $100.00
5th-8th: $75.00
9th-16th: $25.00
Registration
Participating centers must have enough PCs to accommodate all registrants playing simultaneously. Participating centers must be located in the United States or Canada, excluding Quebec, Connecticut and Colorado.
Registration for participating gamers is open on a dedicated campaign site hosted on http://www.alienwarearena.com/event/killer-launch/. The campaign site provides additional details, including the full rules, game play settings, prize distribution, etc.
Fees
iGames charges no fee to players who participate in this event.
Players pay up to (but not exceeding) the normal costs of play time at The Gamerz Funk, not to ever exceed $25.00 USD per player per day played.
